INDIAN WEDDING RECEPTION

Indian wedding is one of the most extravagant affairs and have a charm of their own. As per the tradition the wedding is primarily organized by the bride's family.There is a lot of rituals and customs that are followed in a Hindu Marriage ceremony before and after the wedding. The wedding reception is one of the post wedding ceremonies. India is the land of diversity so these ceremonies differ from religion to religion and place to place. The reception party is is usually organized by the family of the groom and is a sort of a grand party. The friends and associates mainly from the groom side attend this ceremony. From the bride side, only the close members are invited. Wedding reception party is the first public appearance of the couple together, after wedding where they receive the blessing and gifts from the relatives and friends. It is a way that the groom's community welcomes the bride with open arms.

Wedding reception party is held in garden, courtyard, farm houses, and restaurant and so on. The stage is at one end of the place and the eating zone is at the other end. The Hall and the stage are decorated with red roses, orchids, carnations and many other flowers. Apart from flowers, bandhani cloth, balloons, and diyas are also used for decorations. The dining area is very well arranged, so that every dish prepared is visible to the guests.The lavish cuisine and excellent dishes spice up the entire ambiance of the reception party place.Romantic ambiance is created at the venue by dimming the lights. Halls are decorated with beautiful decorative and scented candles. Soft and soothing music in the background is played. For spring wedding reception, tulips, roses, lilies, gerberas and daisies are used for decoration. For winter wedding reception, flowers such as winter jasmine, honeysuckle, are used. White calla lilies, hydrangea and snowball mums are perfect for summer wedding reception.


Food is an inevitable part of any celebration and when the occasion is as grand as wedding, it becomes all the more important.The food served at a wedding reception is determined by the time of the wedding and local customs. Food may range from a single non-alcoholic drink with wedding cake and multi-course dinners. The type of food is chosen entirely at the discretion of the hosts.

Nowadays, the reception ceremony is seen as a grand affair with lots of entertainment elements in it. The party is enjoyed with good music and no- stop dancing by the guests. The richer section of the society hires music and dance performers from all over the world to entertain the guests at the reception party. Disco ball is set up and peppy dance numbers is played. However, there are some reception parties that are held on a traditional theme. In such a state, cultural programs and dances are the main elements of such parties.

The usual middle class Indian wedding reception involves a big Line  to greet the bridal couple who generally remain standing on the stage to personally welcome all the guests.Unlike all the ceremonies, the reception does not include any rituals or customs.


The reception party celebration, Decor and entertainment are totally dependent on the liking of the groom's family. The main aim of the party is to make the bride feel at ease and also provides an occasion for people, who could not make it to the wedding ceremony. This is the time when the bride finally represents herself as an important member of her new family. Reception ceremonies are arranged from the groom's side to make the world know that they have a new member and they celebrate her arrival. It is an extension of the marriage celebrations.
